An absolutely dated record of climate change over the last three glacial–interglacial cycles from Chinese loess deposits

چکیده

Abstract Chinese loess-paleosol sequences have long been regarded as the continental counterpart of deep-sea sediments in terms their record Quaternary glacial–interglacial cycles. However, absolute chronologies for older than ca. 130 ka on Loess Plateau are scarce. We conducted first high-resolution luminescence dating, extending back to 350 ka, classical Luochuan loess section central Plateau. Bacon age-depth modeling ages was used obtain an age framework. The results indicate that orbital timescales, accumulation at continuous over last three new framework resolves discrepancies between orbitally tuned models several boundaries and provides evidence supporting reassignment Marine Isotope Stage 8/9 boundary from 300 280 ka. Our also suggest published astronomical timescales deposits ~2.6 m.y. probably broadly reliable, related regional global climatic interpretations.

Reconstruction of the Late-Quaternary climate change using magnetic susceptibility of Saadabad-Gorgan loess deposits

Introduction   One of the processes of the Quaternary era is the glacial and interglacial periods. In the glacial period, loesses deposited and in the interglacial period, Paleosoils were formed. The northern part of Iran is geographically the same as countries such as China, a large part of which has been covered with loess sediments during the Pleistocene glacial period. Loess sediments in ...

A composite annual-resolution stalagmite record of North Atlantic climate over the last three millennia

Annually laminated stalagmites can be used to construct a precise chronology, and variations in laminae thickness provide an annual growth-rate record that can be used as a proxy for past climate and environmental change. Here, we present and analyse the first composite speleothem annual growth-rate record based on five stalagmites from the same cave system in northwest Scotland, where precipit...

Oceanic evidence of climate change in southern Australia over the last three centuries

[1] Chemical analysis of deepwater octocorals collected at 1000 m depth off southern Australia indicates long-term cooling, beginning in the mid-18th century. This cooling appears to reflect shoaling of isotherms along the continental shelf, that can be related statistically, observationally and by modeling to increasing coastal seasurface temperatures, that in turn reflect a poleward extension...
